Why is it that Samurai Jack is the ONLY one of the series to claim they 'grew up with their audience' that actually DID?

Seriously, it's NOT HARD TO DO:

Samurai Jack just gave us...Samurai Jack. They didn't give us Superman destroying Metropolis fighting Zod, Batman shooting people left and right, or stuff out of a bad, grim dark fanfic with such a complicated plot that even if it DID make sense would need a string chart to comprehend. They gave us Samurai Jack, but dealing with more mature issues that the original audience actually WOULD be able to understand and appreciate 13 years later.

Why is that such a hard formula for people to get? Original series + more mature issues the original audience would now be old enough to understand an appreciate = growing up with your audience.

Why is that so hard for people to understand?

Because execs are not in touch with what people want and don't hire people who actually know the source material (and if they do, they certainly don't know it very well).
